Deep Purple is an English hard rock band, one of the pioneers of heavy metal.

It was formed in 1967.

They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

The members now: Ian Gillan (singer), Graham Dimmock and Tony Lander (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Sheila Carter (keyboard) and Harvey Shields (drums).

Their album “Concerto for Group and Orchestra” was one of the first collaborations between a rock band and an orchestra.

“Machine Head” is their most successful album and the song “Smoke on the Water” became the trademark of the band.

They had several hits like “Fireball”, “Strange Kind of Woman”, “Highway Star”, “Woman from Tokio” etc.
