Catherine Johnson wrote the story which has love, friendship, lots of humour, twists and takes place on a Greek island based on the eternal hits of ABBA. The musical features 22 ABBA songs, including CHIQUITITA, DANCING QUEEN, I HAVE A DREAM, KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU, THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL, SUPER TROUPER, TAKE A CHANCE ON ME and VOULEZ-VOUS.
The MAMMA MIA! has become a massive hit all over the world. Just like the original production premiered in London in 1999, the international cast also achieved amazing success from Las Vegas to Moscow.
The producer of the worldwide production is Judy Craymer, who was first asked to create a musical based on the songs of ABBA in 1987. The plans became reality in 1999 and since then English ticket offices had over 155 million pounds in sales, while worldwide performances bought in over 2 billion dollars and over 30 million viewers.Using the music and lyrics of the composers of ABBA Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus the musical MAMMA MIA! came to life from the pen of Catherine Johnson, while the director of the stage show is Phyllida Lloyd. The choreography of MAMMA MIA! was the work of Anthony Van Laast, Mark Thompson is the Production Designer, the Lighting Designer is Howard Harrison, the Sound Designers are Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, while the Sound Designer and Martin Koch has the task of Musical Supervisor & Additional Material & Arrangements.
